Safe operation of the M1/M2 Printer requires that you read and understand the warnings below. Safety is a combination of common sense, staying alert, and knowing how the printer works. Be aware of the safety instructions below during operation.

Danger!

  • Arc flash and shock hazard. Follow ALL requirements in NFPA 70E for safe work practices and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Do not attempt to override safety features. Doing so makes the printer unsafe.

⚠️ Hazardous voltage inside.

  • Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock.
  • Do not use an alternate power cable. Replacing the power cable with an inadequately rated cable can result in electric shock, arc flash, fire, or damage to the equipment.
  • Disconnect power before servicing.
  • Service by trained personnel only.
  • Consult manual.

⚠️ Lifting hazard

  • Do not attempt to lift, carry, or move the printer. Doing so risks tipping the printer over, which may cause serious injury.

⚠️ Health hazard

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (lab coat, long pants, close-toed shoes, safety glasses, and nitrile gloves) whenever operating the printer, handling uncured resin/parts, or in the production environment.
  • Avoid skin and eye contact.
  • Change gloves frequently.
  • Wash hands frequently.

Caution!

  • Clean up resin spills (including drips) immediately to avoid slippery floors and prevent spreading of resin contamination.
  • Be aware, parts may fall from build platform during platform removal due to poor adhesion.

⚠️ Do not cover chassis ventilation slots or block enclosure openings.

  • Slots, vents, and fans provide ventilation for the printer. Do not block or impede airflow into or out of these openings.

Notices

  • Never squirt solvent directly on the underside of the cassette, as it will cause immediate, permanent cassette damage.
  • Only use acetone to clean the platform, printer deck, and frame of the cassette, and top of the window. Do not use acetone to clean the printer door, body panels, silicone spatulas, or plastic tool handles as it will damage or degrade them.
  • Do not restore power to the printer until maintenance is complete. Do not operate the printer until proper function has been verified through proper service procedures performed by qualified Carbon service personnel.
  • Installation and Service should only be performed by trained Carbon personnel.
  • Sufficient ventilation is required during operation of the printer. The complete site prep requirements can be found below:
