Blade carrier
When the hand wheel is rotated, the blade carrier moves along the tracks. Shown with blade carrier in home position.
Blade
The gold-colored blade removes the release film from the platform. It is very sharp. To prevent injury, the blade is covered by the blade guard until the blade carrier is very close to the platform.

Blade guard
The blade guard covers the edge of the blade, preventing injury to the user. The guard rotates down when the blade carrier makes contact with the platform. This reveals the blade so that it can scrape the surface of the platform and remove the release film.

Platform mount
This feature holds the platform in place to ensure proper alignment with the blade. The image above shows the platform installed on the platform holder.

Hand wheel
The hand wheel moves the blade carrier forward and backward along the tracks.
Blade carrier tracks
These slots in the top surface of the release film remover allow movement of the blade carrier.
Blade assembly
The blade assembly needs to be changed if damaged or dull. A spare blade assembly is included with your release film remover. Additional blade assemblies can be purchased from Carbon.
Safe operation of the release film remover requires that you read and understand the warnings below.
Safety is a combination of common sense, staying alert, and knowing how the release film remover works. Be aware of the safety instructions below whenever operating the release film remover.
⚠️ The blade is very sharp!
- Do not touch the edge of the blade with a bare or gloved finger or hand.
- Use caution when changing the blade.

⚠️ Pinching hazard exists when blade carrier is in motion.
- Do not place your hand or fingers between the blade and platform when the blade carrier is in motion.

The following steps will show you how to operate the release film remover.
Equipment Preparation
1. The blade carrier should be in the home position.
- If the blade carrier is not in the home position, turn the handle counterclockwise until it reaches the home position.

2. Inspect the blade. It should be clean, flat, and free of blemishes in the cutting area.
- If the blade needs to be cleaned or replaced, see the maintenance section of this training.

Install the Platform
- Position the handle of the build platform toward you.
- Pick up the platform, using the side grips of the platform.
- Place it onto the platform holder of the film remover.

Note: Ensure the handle of the platform is on the same side as the hand wheel.

Remove the Film
1. Turn the hand wheel slowly to move the blade carrier forward, about 1 rotation per second.
Do not put your free hand between the blade carrier and the platform.

2. Turn the hand wheel until the platform contacts the blade guard. The blade guard will move down uncovering the blade.

3. Continue to turn the hand wheel slowly to allow the blade to run underneath the film.
- If the blade does not run underneath the film, reverse the hand wheel and try again at a slower pace.
- Failure to wipe residual resin from the platform before curing will result in a layer of hardened resin. This may prevent the blade from getting underneath the release film.

4. Keep turning the hand wheel until the film is completely removed from the surface of the platform. When enough film has been separated from the platform, use your spare hand to hold the parts and film out of the way of the operation of the blade carrier.

Set the Film Aside
1. Move the film (and the attached models) to a clean, non-stick surface.
- If you have saved the liner from release film, you can place the release film back on it.

Return Blade Carrier to the Home Position
1. Turn the handle counterclockwise until the blade carrier reaches the home position.

Over time, residue from the release film will collect on the top of the blade, making it sticky. When this happens, the top of the blade will need to be cleaned.
- Ensure the blade carrier is in the home position with the blade guard in place.
- Using an acetone wipe, remove the film residue by pushing down against the top of the blade and wiping down along the top of the blade. Continue until the top of the blade is free from residue.

Use caution. The blade is sharp!
The blade will dull over time. When the blade needs to be changed, follow the procedure below using the provided blade assembly kit.
