Maintenance

To clean the deck and lid, spray solvent onto towel and then wipe surfaces.

Do not spray solvent directly onto the lid or deck. Excess solvent can leak over the edge of the lid or deck and into the body of the part washer.
- Solvent, especially acetone, can degrade internal components and affect washer operation.
- This infiltration can happen whether the lid is raised or lowered.

Loose fragments or debris can damage parts during washing.
- After every wash, check the mesh filter at the bottom of the wash tank for part fragments and debris.
- Use a gloved hand or wet/dry vacuum to remove.

Wipe down the deck, bowl, lid seal, and spin head with an acetone-soaked towel to remove resin and solvent residue and prevent material build-up.
- All of these surfaces have been designed to withstand acetone and solvents. Wiping them with acetone will not degrade these surfaces.
- Do not use acetone on the white washer panels as it will remove the paint.
Wipe residual resin from the sides of the wash tank with an IPA moistened blue shop towel.
- This will help remove contaminants from the solvent resulting in cleaner parts and longer solvent life.
- Do not spray IPA or acetone into the wash tank.

It is especially important to keep the bowl and lid seal free of liquid resin.
- Because the bowl and lid seal make contact when the lid is closed, liquid resin glues these surfaces together.
- With a clean bowl and lid seal, the lid will open immediately when activated. Otherwise, the lid will open slowly or in extreme cases not at all.
- The display will show a hardware fault if the lid seal prevents the lid from opening.
Ensure lid seal is properly seated.
- Using a gloved finger, ensure seal is completely seated in the lid seal groove.
- If lid seal is not fully seated, press it back into retaining groove.

- Wipe down washer panels with IPA-soaked towels, cleaning drips and smears of uncured resin.
- Do not use acetone on the white washer panels as it will remove the paint.
- Check compressed air filter indicator. Filter element will need to be replaced when indicator shows approximately all red.

As residue builds up on the filter, you will need to clean it.
- Check the filter to see which generation you have:
- The current generation filter has a slot in the metal frame and uses an M6 mounting screw.
- The current generation filter has a hole in the metal frame and uses an M4 mounting screw.
- Using the appropriate socket head cap screwdriver (M6 or M4), remove the mounting screw that holds the screen in place and then remove the screen.
- Remove residue from the screen with acetone and a blue towel or wipe.
- The filter should be replaced if you cannot see through it after cleaning.
- Additional filter assemblies can be ordered from Carbon.

The sense tube helps maintain the proper solvent level in the wash tank. It requires periodic cleaning to ensure the proper function of the Smart Part Washer.
You will need to have the two-ended cleaner available. Note that the brushes are different sizes.

First determine the model of your Smart Part Washer.
- Raise the lid.
- Check the deck for a white plug near the front of the washer.

1. Using a screwdriver or your gloved fingers, depress the click ring at the base of the plug and remove it.

- Alternately, you may find it easier to use 2 screwdrivers. Push the click ring down with the first screwdriver and lift the plug out with the second.

2. Feed the smaller brush into the open end of the sense tube until it exits the hole near the bottom of the tank.
3. Grasp the smaller brush and pull the entire cleaner out through the hole in the bottom of the tank.
4. Insert compressed air gun into top of sense tube and give 3 to 4 quick bursts to clear.
5. Replace plug and push until it clicks.
6. Rinse the brush ends with IPA and safely store cleaner for reuse.

- Locate the sense tube holes in the wash tank.
- Push the smaller end of the cleaner into the top hole.
- Continue to push the cleaner into the tube until the small bristle end appears out of the hole at the bottom of the tank.
- Grasp the smaller brush and pull the entire cleaner out through the hole in the bottom of the tank.
- Insert compressed air gun into sense tube and give 3-4 quick bursts to clear.
- Rinse the brush ends with IPA and safely store cleaner for reuse.

- Perform maintenance as recommended to keep the Smart Part Washer running well.
- Keep all exterior surfaces free of resin and solvent residue.
- It is especially important to keep the bowl and lid seal free of liquid resin. Otherwise the lid may not be able to lift.
Do not use acetone on the white washer panels as it will remove the paint and damage the Smart Part Washer.
