Auto Nest Dentures
Auto Nest is only compatible with full denture base and try-in geometries printed with the following resins:
- Lucitone Digital Print 3D Denture Base Resin
- Lucitone Digital Value 3D Economy Tooth & Trial Placement
- Desktop Health Flexcera Denture Base
- Desktop Health Flexcera Denture Base Ultra+
The Auto Nest Dentures feature enables automated orienting, supporting and nesting of denture bases.
Auto Nest Dentures will automatically:
- Orient parts following the SOP:
- 65 degrees for lowers
- 70 degrees for uppers
- Support parts
- Nest parts
- Parts that do not fit will be placed outside the build platform.
- Set resin to Lucitone Digital Print
Parts that are oriented and supported via Auto Nest must be checked by a technician before printing to ensure each denture is properly supported according to the guidance from the manual workflow above.
The Denture Automation Tool is not enabled by default on your printer. If you would like access to this tool, and do not currently see it, please contact Carbon support.
Once the Auto Nest feature has been enabled, follow the instructions below.
You can choose to have the software default to using denture auto-nest when starting a new project.

- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and determine if you want auto-nesting to default to On or Off when starting a new project.
- Click Update to save your settings.

- Click New Project.
- Enter a project name.
- Under Auto nest dentures, select On.
- Navigate to your files and select them.
- Load the denture files by drag and drop or select browse your files to use your file browser.
- After selecting the files, click Create to begin the auto nest process.
- Auto nest processing times can vary but typically take 1-2 minutes depending on the number of dentures.

For try-in models printing with Lucitone Digital Value 3D Economy Tooth & Trial Placement resin, additional steps are required.
- Use resin drop-down to change resin to Lucitone Digital Value Tooth/Try-In.
- When the Keep Supports menu appears, click Keep Supports.

In some cases supports may not fully form, which require them to be manually added. Possible problem area include:
- Inner fence for lower dentures is missing/incomplete.
- Patch supports on anterior surface is not complete/is too far from tooth sockets.
- Ensure the area near tooth sockets and the anterior face is supported (40-50 degree overhang).
- The bar will not be supported. To avoid warping of the bar, the bar should be manually supported (optional).
- After auto nesting, check all critical areas to ensure the dentures are properly supported:
- Inner and outer edges
- Tooth pockets
- Anterior overhang

Auto nest does not support bars. Bars must be supported manually.
- Starting with software v1.38, if auto nest is unable to orient and support a denture file, it will move that file off the platform so that it is easily identified for manual orientation and supporting.
