See new Queues tab on your Dashboard
You’ll notice that you now have the Queues page on your Dashboard.
Find projects to print
From your list of Fleet Projects, begin by finding the project you want to queue. There are many ways to look for your project. You can search by url:
Or, by project name:
You can also search by printers, users, projects, resin, and project name, and we’ll provide suggestions as you type.
Queue projects to any or many printers in your fleet
Select the project you want to print by clicking on the row. In the right column that pops out, you’ll see the Add to Queue button.
When you click on that, you can select how many copies you’d like of that project per printer, pick a printer or multiple printers from your Fleet to print to, and add notes (if you’d like).
In the above Queue New Print dialog, you’ll notice that you can see the type of printer, the status of the printer, and the resin currently being printed with or last used on the printer.
You can also queue a new print from your project page. From the project you want to print, just click the Queue button at the top.
It will default to selecting the printer the project was prepared on, but you can print it on any printer in your fleet.
Additionally, you can queue a ‘reprint’ by finding a prior print in your Fleet Prints list and adding the reprint to the queue. Note that you can only reprint a print on the original printer it was printed on.
Monitor and update your queue(s) from your Dashboard
You’ll be able to see the queues for all your printers in one place, on your Queues page.
From here, you can drag and drop queued prints between printers and change their order in the queue. You’ll see the ‘drag icon’ when you hover over the left-hand side of the queued print.
You can also see the list of queued prints on each printer. You will have less control of your queue from this view. You can move queued prints to the top or bottom of the list. This view of the queue is intended to be a backup, in case your internet access is cutoff, and you can’t view the Queues page on the Carbon Dashboard.
Start prints on the printer or from the Queue
To start a print, either start your prints from the printer front screen or use the Print button on the printer’s Queue page.
Your printer’s screen will show the next print in the queue. We don’t yet show the full queue on the printer, or let you re-order from the printer. (However, if you need to skip a print from the printer, you can use cancel to get to next queued job.) This was deliberate, as there are factories that don’t want operators to be able to change the prints in the queue. We recommend using the queues page to re-order your prints.
Keep track of projects and prints across your fleet
We hope that this feature helps you not only save time in downloading projects to print on other printers but also in managing your projects. When you queue your project to a printer, we will not show a copy of that project on the printer where you printed it. We will sum all the prints across your fleet on your Fleet Projects list, so you can see the number of times a project was printed in your fleet.
Save notes about your print
We store any notes that you entered with your queued prints in the Feedback field.
We do not yet show these notes on the printer screen. In observing a few early users, their operators needed to see the notes/queued print information before the next print was visible on the printer, so they had to refer to the notes on the Queues page.
We would love to hear whether your workflow would be improved if these notes were visible on the printer.
Download consolidated print history
We’ve added a consolidated .csv export to your Fleet Prints list. Based on your feedback, we’ve also added additional columns to this download, like print finish date, wash program, wash time, parts count, part serials, and more.
Also, as you search your Fleet Prints, we will be able to use these parameters to filter your download data. For example, if you’d like to see the prints for just one printer, you can filter your list using the printer parameter (printer: Humphreys).
Understand your print history with 3 summary charts
Along with allowing you to download your print history, we’ve also added 3 charts that let you see how you’ve been using your printers. You can view your print history as a count of total prints, as a sum of all the material used, or as a sum of the print hours for your fleet. You can select from a few set time periods (and we’ll compare them to the previous period too).
If you’re wondering about what’s included in the totals, here is a brief overview: - Number of prints includes the sum of prints that are running, that have finished or were finished because of a printer error or a user abort. - Resin volume includes the sum of the Required Resin Amount for all prints. - Print time includes the sum of each prints actual print time, defined by the print’s finish time less the print’s start time.
In the Print Controls panel, you can set that you plan to print your project with a release film. This will cause your print to begin printing higher, compensating for the height of the release film.
If you do not remember to apply the release film to the platform after setting the checkbox in your project, your print could fail to adhere to the platform.
In both the Default and Dynamic print profile, we’ve improved how we print geometries with large cross sections. You should see fewer resin flow issues in parts with this type of geometry.
Of course, you will notice that these improvements will slow down the print in the areas of your parts with large cross sections. For parts with thick cross sections, we’ve seen print time changes from small, 4%, to more noticeable, 25%. These changes are geometry and resin aware. For parts without large cross sections, print plans should remain the same.
In our testing, many print profiles remain unchanged between 1.19 and 1.20.
If you’ve used the Large cross sections Print Profile previously, you might want to try now using the Default or Dynamic Print Profile. The Large cross section Print Profile is not geometry aware and changes the speed and motion of the printer for the whole print.
In this first release, we give you the information we think is useful for selecting a printer, like the last resin used on a printer and the type of printer you’re queueing to (M1 vs M2). We do not prevent you from queueing an M2 project that’s too large onto an M1 because some projects might fit. Your printer will NOT print anything that’s too big or shouldn’t print for other reasons. You’ll see the error on the printer screen.
When you add a serial number to your parts, the number shown in your Project is an approximation of the final number. At print time, it will be updated to reflect the printer it’s printed on and the print id on that printer. If you need to track the serial numbers or print id’s for your prints, you will can export them from Fleet Prints, look for the export CSV button.
While the project is transferred to the printer where you’ve queued it, the project isn’t shown in your project list (so that you have only one version of the project). These prints will have id’s that start with a C. You can always access the print from the printer where it was printed. To see a consolidated view of all the times the project has been printed, use the Fleet Projects list on your Dashboard, which will link to all the prints across your Fleet.
On both your Queues and Printers pages, you’ll see a banner at the top of the page when any of your printers or washers have an update available.
When you click on the Details button, you’ll see which printers and washers have updates available and you can begin the update process for as many devices as you select. You can always click on the version number to see the Release Notes for that version.
We love hearing from you about your workflow, your parts, and how to improve. Keep your insightful feedback and ratings coming. We read them carefully and follow up when you request that we contact you. If you prefer real-time feedback, you can always contact the Carbon Service Team, [email protected].
