DENTCA Try-In
DENTCA® Try-In for Carbon printers is now available for Carbon M-Series printers to produce try-ins for dentures. This material will help improve ensure good fitting dentures created with DENTCA® Denture Teeth and DENTCA® Denture Base II.
This guide will cover preparation, printing, and post-processing of your digital models with DENTCA® Try-In for Carbon printers resin.

This guide will cover preparation of your digital try-ins to properly prepare them for printing with DENTCA® Try-In resin.

Because try-ins are organic surfaces with no well defined flat areas, we do not recommend using Snap To Platform.
Proper orientation of denture try-ins is critical to achieve the required accuracy, detail and surface quality. The following information will guide you through proper orientation technique.

Maxillary rotated 30 degrees with anterior rotated away from platform.

Mandibular rotated 25 degrees with the posterior rotated away from the platform.
Perform an initial orientation of both models so that they are roughly parallel with the platform.
- Orient each model so that the tissue-facing surface is facing the platform.
- Adjust the models so that the tops of the teeth are mostly parallel with the platform.
- We recommend typing values into the XYZ axis fields. Changing orientation with the mouse or Snap to Platform function is more challenging.
- Position the camera so you are looking straight down on the platform:
- Push the Reset camera icon in the lower left corner of the screen to return to the default view.
- Push ▲ to look straight down at platform.
- Make sure that the posterior region of each model is facing the lower portion of the screen.

Maxillary
- Click on the maxillary model to select it.
- Enter 30 into the X Axis field.
- The posterior of the try-in should be touching the platform.

Mandibular
- Click on the mandibular model to select it.
- Enter -25 into the X Axis field.
- The anterior of the try-in should be touching the platform.
Dental try-ins require precise placement of supports. Because of this, we currently recommend manually adding supports to parts.
- Click Support in the dark gray bar.
- Under Position, select Above Platform to lift parts off the platform.
- Skip Auto Support Method as this mode is not recommended.
- Click Manually Add to go to the Support editing interface.

Note: Using either Auto Support method will result in supports covering a large portion of the tissue-facing surfaces, which will use more resin and require more cleanup.

Fences are ideal for supporting model walls that face the platform.
- They are easy to remove.
- Contact points require less finishing.
- Click on Fences.
- Click a series of points on the model to define the fence.
- Use Overhang Detection to find areas that need support.
- Fences are only required at the edges.
- Click ESC key and then hold down E key to reposition points.
- Click Generate to create the fence geometry.
- Repeat as needed.

Use fence supports to support the outer boundary of the model.
Fence Supports
- Support entire boundary of model with fence supports.
- We recommend using a single, long fence for easier removal.
- A sequence of 2 or more short fences is acceptable.
Once the outer boundary of the maxillary model has been supported with fences, proceed to supporting the palette with bar supports.

Support the palette with a field of bar supports to prevent deformation.
Bar Supports
- Press Overhang detection to highlight the areas to focus on.
- Click on Multiple add.
- Click in the palette area to create a field of points that will be contact points for bar supports.
- Bar supports are usually required only in the palette area.
- Place points within 3-6 mm of each other.
- Click Generate to create the bar supports.
- Check the bar supports and move to supporting the mandibular model.

Use fences to support the outer boundary of the model. Mandibular bases also require additional fences in the posterior areas to ensure proper fit.
Fence Supports
- Support entire boundary of model with fence supports.
- We recommend using a single, long fence for easier removal.
- A sequence of 2 or more short fences is acceptable.
- Create secondary lines of fences along the posterior region.
- Offset from outer fence by 2-4 mm.

- Tissue-facing surfaces facing platform.
- Supported Above Platform.
- Fences around part boundary.

Maxillary Try-In
Rotated 30 degrees with posterior tilted towards platform.

Mandibular Try-In
Rotated 25 degrees with anterior tilted towards platform.
Print Controls For Denture Teeth and Try-ins

- Click Print Controls or Shift + P in the top menu bar.
- Under Print Profile select Default.
- Printing with release film can make part removal easier once printing is complete. If using release film, select Print with release film.
- Under Slicing, select Standard (100 µ).
- Reducing the slice thickness by choosing the Fine (50 µ) or Super-fine (25 µ) settings will increase print time and may reduce part quality and accuracy.
- Select the Project Analysis tab.
- Click Start Analysis and wait for the processing to complete.
- Note the required resin volume and print time.
- Click Add to Queue.
