Overview

DENTCA® Crown & Bridge for Carbon printers is now available for Carbon M Series printers to produce temporary crowns and bridges.

DENTCA Crown & Bridge for Carbon printers currently comes in 6 shades:

  • A1, A2, A3, A3.5, B1, B2, BL1

Crowns

Proper Orientation of Crowns

Carbon recommends:

  • No overhangs on crown margins.
  • No overhangs on interface surfaces.
  • Minimum overhangs on buccal/lingual crown surfaces.

Following these recommendations will maximize accuracy and minimize the need for manual finishing.

Orienting

  1. Click on Orient or Shift + O in the main bar in the printer software.
  2. In the lower right corner, turn on Overhang Detection or V key set to 40 degrees to indicate areas that need support in red.

3. Orient each crown so that the margin and interface are free of overhangs. 4. Refine orientation to minimize overhangs on other crown surfaces.

The margin and interface of each crown should now be free of overhangs. The remaining surfaces should have a minimal amount of overhangs.

Note: Margins and interfaces that have overhangs will require supports. These supports affect fit and will require finishing to ensure proper seating.

Supporting

  1. Click Support or Shift + S in the dark gray bar.
  2. Under Position, select Above Platform to lift parts off the platform.
  3. Skip Auto Support Method as this mode is not recommended.
  4. Click Manually Add to go to the Support editing interface.

Add Fence Supports

  1. Click Toggle Platform button in the lower tool bar to hide the platform. This will enable better visibility during fence creation.
  2. Click the fences icon in the top menu bar.
  3. Click a series of points in an area of overhang to define the fence.
  4. If an overhang region is large, apply fencing to the edges of the region as well as the center.
  5. Click ESC key and then hold down E key to reposition points.
  6. Click Generate to create the fence geometry. This may take a few minutes.
  7. Repeat as needed.



Supporting crown


Bridges

Proper Orientation of Bridges

Carbon recommends:

  • No overhangs on crown margins.
  • No overhangs on interface surfaces.
  • Minimum overhangs on buccal/lingual crown surfaces.

Well supported bridges on the platform


Orienting

  1. Click on Orient or Shift + O in the main bar in the printer software.
  2. In the lower right corner, turn on Overhang Detection or V key set to 40 degrees to indicate areas that need support in red.

3. The bridge margin and interface should face away from the platform (occlusal surface will face platform). 4. Keep parts roughly parallel to the platform.

The margin and interface of each bridge should now be free of overhangs. The remaining surfaces should have a minimal amount of overhangs.

Supporting

  1. Click Support or Shift + S in the dark gray bar.
  2. Under Position, select Above Platform to lift parts off the platform.
  3. Under Auto Support Method select Basic and click Generate.

Nesting



Print Preparation

Print Controls

Click Print Controls or Shift + P in the top menu bar.

  1. Under Print Profile select Default.
  2. Choose your cassette type.
  3. Printing with release film can make part removal easier once printing is complete. If using release film, select Print with release film.
  4. Under Slicing, select Fine (50 µ) setting.

Project Analysis

  1. Select the Project Analysis tab.
  2. Click Start Analysis and wait for the processing to complete.
    1. Note the required resin volume and print time.
  3. Click Add to Queue.
