Automation

2min

Certain bespoke applications may want to apply the same lattice design, to the same type of design space, that varies only to suit a certain individual. Rather than manually setting up and downloading each unique lattice, automation allows you to run one lattice design and then set up an automation program that can repeat the same lattice parameters, in the same fashion, using custom inputs for each unique output.

One example that we'll use to illustrate automation capabilities is a custom insole. Two types of custom inputs are utilized in this case:

  • Design space An individualized design space, created to match a particular person's foot.
  • Pressure map
An individualized set of data points based on a particular person's weight distribution across their foot.

Inputs are tokenized to be repeated in a model program that runs in Design Engine via API, to repeat lattice production. Output STL files are placed in a specified directory folder for use in printing.

Set up 1st Lattice Design

  1. Upload design space
  2. Upload pressure map data in CSV file format
  3. Generate strut lattice
  4. Solidify strut lattice for a downloadable STL file

This lattice design will be applied to every design space, using pressure map data. Set the lattice parameters accordingly to suit the application's performance requirements.

Set up Automation

  1. Click on the arrow next to the project name and select
  2. Select the input types to utilize (you do not need to use all types).
  3. Click submit to generate a model program to use with the API integration.
