# Installation

### Compressed Air

- Compressed air supply should be clean and dry at a minimum of 5.5 kgf/cm2 (80 psi, 5.5 bar) and a maximum pressure of 8.4 kgf/cm2 (120 psi, 8 bar)
- Available air should be 5 cfm. The minimum bore of the airline to the machine should be 8 mm.

::::VerticalSplit{layout="middle"}
:::VerticalSplitItem
![](https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/xcOI3p6O5jO0MVhoHv9rO-WMisYQOU-V3eHkw6D586P-20240823-092316.png)
:::

:::VerticalSplitItem
1. Turn the **main** air pressure regulator up to 80 psi (0.55 MPa)
2. Turn the **dispense** pressure regulator up to the correct setting for the resin being dispensed (see Resin Setting Table).
   - The knob needs to be pulled out in order to be adjusted, and pushed back in to lock it when the desired pressure is reached to prevent accidental adjustments in the pressure.

- Lower dispense pressures may be needed for lower viscosity resins to prevent violent shaking of the machine during use and unsafe dispense speeds during ratio checks.
:::
::::

:::hint{type="info"}
Consult the [Resin Setting Table](docId\:RO9oMdZmwxQpwOHukmhY2) below for recommended dispense pressures.
:::

###   Electrical

  In the United States, the mmd can be plugged directly into a standard 120 V outlet.

::::VerticalSplit{layout="middle"}
:::VerticalSplitItem
- Check that all wires are intact and functioning.
  - For example, the Part A and Part B tank refill sensors in the back of the tanks should each have a lit up **LED**.

:::

:::VerticalSplitItem
- Inspect that the Part A tank heater is functioning properly.
  - You should be able to set the tank temperature on the home display screen.
:::

# Filling

Required before [initial usage](docId\:RO9oMdZmwxQpwOHukmhY2) or when the low level sensors indicate that the dispenser is low on either Part A or B. The frequency of this operation is variable, depending on the dispenser’s usage.

:::hint{type="info"}
**Bulk resin container sizes vary from 5 L cans to 950 L IBC. A full 20 L container weighs around 44 pounds (about 20 kg), and should be handled by two people: one to position the spout over the tank and another to support the weight on the bottom of the container. **

**Carbon recommends downpacking components into 5 L containers for easier handling.**
:::

1. Position a short **step ladder** in front of the MMD so that the user can easily lift bulk containers to the top of the tank.
2. Remove the tank lid.
3. Pour Part A or Part B component resin from the bulk container into the appropriate tank until the desired level is reached.
4. Replace the tank lid.
5. If the “Fault Active” alert is on due to low level A or B, press the blue reset button.

## Initial Usage

Ensure tanks are filled with resin.

1. **Bleed air from the line**
   - If you suspect that there are air bubbles trapped before the dispense head, you may disconnect the hose from the dispense head, raise it high (air bubbles to travel up), and dispense.
   - Use caution and follow safety guidelines from the operator's manual.
2. **Purge the lines**
   - If there was any liquid inside of the machine prior to receiving, purge the lines until there are no longer any remnants.
   - For example, EPU 41 Part B should be clear, and EPU 41 Part A should be the original consistency and color.

# Adjusting Dispense Ratio

:::hint{type="warning"}
At all times when the pump is exposed and the panel is removed, for your safety it is recommended to disconnect the main compressed air supply. This will prevent accidentally activating the pump during the manual adjustment process.
:::

![](https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/xcOI3p6O5jO0MVhoHv9rO-bHpyI8px8uNKzCfw2C_0t-20240829-105105.jpg)

1. Remove the four screws on top of the pump chamber and remove the panel.
2. Using an adjustable wrench, loosen the lock nut on the piston rod.
3. While holding the Top Hat (the bronze-colored junction) to prevent it from rotating, use an appropriately sized open-end wrench to screw the piston rod either in or out of the Top Hat. (see above image)
   - Turn the piston rod ¼ turn between each mass ratio check
   - Screw the Part A rod into the Top Hat to bring the hardener forward.
   - Screw the Part A rod out of the Top Hat to bring the Part A forward.
4. Perform mass ratio check and inspect phasing.
5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 until a satisfactory ratio is achieved. Both materials should also start pumping at precisely the same time.
6. Use an adjustable wrench to tighten the lock nut on the piston rod.
   - Apply threadlocker to the plunger rod and lock nut to prevent potential loosening.
7. Replace the panel.

# Operation

::::::WorkflowBlock
:::::WorkflowBlockItem
## Set operation mode

::::VerticalSplit{layout="middle"}
:::VerticalSplitItem
There are two main modes of operation **"Metered shot"** and **"Operator Control".**

Toggle between these by **clicking on the mode name.**

**Metered shot** will dispense the specified amount of resin and stop.

**Operator Control** will dispense resin as long as "Manual Dispense" or the foot switch is pressed.

## Dispense resin

::::VerticalSplit{layout="middle"}
:::VerticalSplitItem
In either mode, to begin dispensing resin click **Manual Dispense** or activate **foot switch**.

To activate **foot switch**:

1. Push **lock mechanism** towards back for switch
2. **Step on switch** to dispense.

::::
:::::
::::::

# Maintenance

:::hint{type="info"}
When using for the first time in under 24 hours and the mix tip is already installed, run a burn-off and proceed with normal usage. Swap out the mix tip if unused for over 24 hours. When using a new mix tip, burn off 50 g.
:::

## Daily

- Wipe controls and screen with IPA

## Weekly

-  Ratio check
- Ensure lock nuts on piston rods are tight

# Troubleshooting

- If the ratio measured during the ratio check is off, manually adjust the ratio using open-end wrench.
- Observe the phasing. If this is off, it is likely that the dispense ratio is off as well.
- If nothing is dispensing during the cycle (the dispense pump is unable to move or dispense anything), there could be blockage in the line, blockage in the dispense head, or blockage at the non-return valve (NRV).
