# Resin Dispensing

## Color Mixing

UMA 90 comes in an assortment of colors (black, white, gray, cyan, magenta, and yellow). When printing any color in UMA 90 you will select the **UMA 90 CMYKWG** from the drop down menu.

UMA 90 colors can be mixed to create unique colors, or swirl patterns. The **COLOR MIXING** tool provides color recipes to achieve desired colors.

::embed[]{url="https://vimeo.com/527516347/4a9c3d821c?dnt=1"}

1. Click **COLOR MIXING** on the sidebar of the printer dashboard page.
2. Scroll to view the color options.
3. Click the color block desired.
4. Enter the total amount of resin to be mixed (defaults to 1 Kg).
5. Amount of resin by weight is listed per CMYK color.

Additional Information

- Digital CMYK color mixes **do not** translate to the pigments in UMA 90.
- Color recipes are provided by weight. 1.1 g of UMA 90 = 1 mL
- Extra resin can be stored in a color mixing bottle. See [Accessories & Supplies](docId:95TwE3ttL-5ihI6dNl4XI).
- The color mixing tool does not allow user entered CMYK numbers.
- If a custom color is needed, contact [Carbon Support](mailto\:support@carbon3d.com).

# Washing

## Color Protection

::::VerticalSplit{layout="middle"}
:::VerticalSplitItem
UMA 90's colors are best preserved by washing light and similar colors in dedicated solvent to avoid discoloration.

All resins absorb solvent during washing, which evaporates after cleaning. When using previously used solvent, the pigments from other colors also absorb into the part but do not evaporate.

The following is recommended:

- Dedicated solvent and washtub for light and similar colors.

## Scratches

UMA 90 is susceptible to scratches in both its green state and post UV cure state. Exercise extra care in handling cosmetic surfaces.

- To mitigate scratches, washing parts on the platform is recommended.
 - Parts washed loose in a washtub will scratch each other.
 - When washing parts off platform is preferred, wash parts individually to avoid scratching.

Washing parts on the platform or individually will prevent scratches.

## Tackiness

UMA 90 is especially prone to tackiness after washing and curing.

::::VerticalSplit{layout="middle"}
:::VerticalSplitItem
### Manual Washing

- The second wash for UMA 90 should use **fresh IPA **solvent.
 - In batch washing, the same second wash solvent can be used for multiple prints so long as it maintains crystal clarity.
 - The second wash standard recommendation is 5 minutes. This time can be extended up to maximum solvent exposure time to mitigate tackiness.
- If tackiness remains after curing, repeat the second wash in **fresh IPA** for an additional 5 minutes (or up to the maximum solvent exposure time). Dry parts and repeat UV curing. Repeat wash / cure until tackiness is gone.

### Smart Part Washer

- UMA 90 parts can be run through the part washer up to 2 times before curing to mitigate tackiness.
- When washing UMA 90 with DPM, post-IPA dunk, allow UMA 90 parts to sit for **2-3 hours** before UV curing to prevent tackiness.
- If tackiness remains after curing, follow manual washing methods above.
